Kristen Marin
2017 Rural Health Rock Star Nurse Leader |
Kristen’s interest in nursing was sparked by working as a ward clerk and with telemetry at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Subsequently she attended CSU, Chico and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Upon completion, she continued her journey with UVMC as a registered nurse on the medical-surgical unit and eventually, the emergency department. With the full financial support of UVMC, she obtained her Masters Degree in Nursing Administration and Education.
While pursuing her education, she stepped into leadership as the Director of Education at the hospital where she gained a true appreciation of life-long learning. Kristen returned to the Emergency Department as a Unit Supervisor and is most proud of her work with the trauma program. She led the development of the annual trauma expo; a community-wide effort to educate first responders and hospital staff when faced with trauma patients. She is also a sexual assault nurse examiner who works closely with local law enforcement and educating local youth about reporting sexual assault. She lives locally with her husband and two young children. |
