Faith Simon is a family nurse practitioner in Fort Bragg California. She worked for 20 years as a registered nurse in emergency rooms, obstetrics and public health, during which time she also practiced in Southern Africa, chiefly in Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. She has also worked in the West Virginia coal fields and the Navajo reservation in Chinle Arizona, as well as in Seattle, New York and Los Angeles. In 1996, she entered graduate school at State University of New York, earning a master’s degree as Family Nurse Practitioner.
Since arriving on the Coast 18 years ago, she has practiced pediatric and adult medicine in rural health centers. In 2005-6 she taught a women’s empowerment class at the alternative high school in Fort Bragg. She is currently practicing pediatrics at the Fort Bragg Rural Health Center and is the coast advocate for the family medicine residency program. Faith serves on the Safe Passage Family Resource Center as Board president, she is a cofounder of Mendocino Parents for Peace and lives with her husband on the Mendocino Coast where they raised two children. |
